BSB Rd 10 Croft

17-09-2010

Into the final three events of the BSB season with Croft last weekend:

Dan had a strong weekend with Rob Mac Racing. The developments with the bike have enabled the running of significantly shorter gearing. In turn this enables Dan to ride it more like a traditional Superbike with more punch out of the corners. Both Dan and the team seem happy with the setup and confidence and results came as a result. Having qualified 5th on the grid Dan started well in race one and competed with the front group moving to 4th at one point before finishing in a season's best 5th. 14 seconds only off the front. A big step. Race two followed similar lines but the 9th place result does not do justice to a strong finish only 12 seconds off the front and 4 seconds off third place. Bring on Silverstone.

Pat had a tough weekend whilst defending his championship lead in the BSS Cup with East Coast Racing. Pat held a good points position throughout the race that would have kept a reasonable cushion in the table however, when Graeme Gowland's bike blew at the front and laid oil on the circuit Pat hit the oil and crashed. Although a nasty crash Pat is OK with bruises and no broken bones. Unbelievably however, the race was red flagged for Pat's crash rather than for the oil on the circuit. The result of this is that Pat does not keep his points. Hard to comprehend but there it is. So Pat goes into the last two rounds with an 8 point lead to defend. It is going to be tense.

Martin continues his progress in the STK 600 Championship with TAG Triumph getting experience that will lead to him challenging for the title next season. This weekend saw Martin finish the race in 11th narrowly missing his first top ten finish in part due to a broken gear selector. There is no doubt that the progress this season has been impressive and there is still time for a top ten before season end.

Silverstone next in two weekends.
