BSB Rd 2 Thruxton day 1 Friday.

16-04-2010

During the first day of each round it is always a little difficult to judge how things are going. The riders and teams are settling in and "Friday results are no guarantee of future performance!". However it has been a slightly subdued day:

Dan and Rob Mac Racing had the first 2 of 3 practice sessions for the weekend. In first practice Dan was 12th with a 1m17.4s lap. In second practice Dan was 11th with a 1m16.4s lap. It is likely that Dan will need to be in the 1m14s to be on the first 2 rows of the grid and therefore Dan and the team are looking to move things forward tomorrow morning before Superpole in the afternoon. Both Dan and the team have identified changes to try in morning practice at 10.15am.

Christian and SMT have stated that the first 2 rounds of this season are part of the testing and development programme prior to aiming at top ten positions at the 3rd round at Oulton Park. With this in mind Christian has focussed on moving things forward from session to session today. Practice 1 saw 1m18.6s and 23rd with practice 2 progressing to 1m17.5s and 19th. Christian and the team are comfortable with today and look forward to tomorrow to continue progress.

Pat and East Coast Racing got some cruel luck today as Pat has picked up a stomach bug preventing him from racing flat out. However Pat achieved 5th in the Cup competition and 22nd overall with a 1m19s lap in qualifying 1 today. Hopefully Pat will feel better in the morning.

Martin and JHS Racing have moved things forward from Brands Hatch but Martin is still settling into the class and team. Like Pat, Martin also had the first qualifying session today and qualified 18th in group 2 with a 1m22s lap. Martin will be looking to move things forward in the 2nd qualifying tomorrow to avoid the shoot out race and qualify straight to the final on Sunday.
