BSB Rd 2 Thruxton day 2 Saturday.

17-04-2010

A good positive day today at a very sunny Thruxton:

Dan and Rob Mac Racing used the 3rd practice session this morning to work further at the set up required for the weekend. Together Dan, the team and also Leon Camier on the telephone, clarified the best way forward with the gearing and a step change in lap times followed in time for Roll for Pole this afternoon. Dan's lap times in the three qualifying (Roll for Pole) sessions were 1m15.8s, 1m15.4s and 1m15.5s leaving Dan in a very positive 6th on the grid for race 1 tomorrow. Equally importantly Dan feels good about his race pace.

Christian and SMT continue to exceed their expectations at Thruxton with Christian running faster again this morning in 3rd practice with a 1m16.4s lap going into the Roll for Pole this afternoon. Christian's lap times in the three qualifying (Roll for Pole) sessions were 1m16.5s, 1m15.7s and 1m16.8s. The cracking 2nd session lap moved Christian through to the 3rd session but without one of his 3 qualifying tyres left. Strong times in the 3rd session were therefore not possible but a starting grid position of 9th leaves Christian and the team with big smiles this evening.

Pat and East Coast Racing had a better day with Pat recovering a little overnight from his stomach bug. The final qualifying today saw Pat finish 3rd on the grid in the Cup competition and 19th overall for the race tomorrow. With Pat feeling better as the weekend progresses, he and the team are looking to move further forward during the race.

Martin and JHS Racing took a big step forward from Brands Hatch this weekend but it was not quite enough to get through to the main Superstock 600 race tomorrow as Martin finished outside the top ten in the shoot out race this afternoon. However, another step forward at the next round at Oulton Park in two weeks, would see that goal achieved and from there Martin could continue to move forward through the season.
