BSB Rd 2 Thruxton Race Day Sunday
19-04-2010
A tough day on Sunday following the good qualifying day for Pat, Christian and Dan.
Dan and Rob Mac Racing got better starts in both races today which was one of the main goals. However in race 1 when running a good race pace closing in on the front group, Dan had a front end slide in the fast Goodwood corner and a heavy crash. Thankfully Dan is unscathed except for a few cuts and bruises and the team worked fast to repair the bike in time for race 2. In race 2 Dan was determined to bring the bike home in one piece and therefore ran a more cautious race after a good start, and finished in 12th gaining 4 points. The positives from the weekend are qualifying, good starts and race 1 race pace and Dan and the team head to Oulton Park in 2 weeks to build further on that.
Christian and SMT were delighted with the outcome of qualifying on Saturday and headed into the races in good mood. In race 1 Christian was running well in the low teens until a coming together on lap 6 with Howie Mainwaring forced Christian onto the grass and to drop to 20th spot. Christian regrouped and clawed back three places finishing 17th. In race two Christian started strongly but then an incident forced Christian down to 21st spot on lap 6. From there Christian fought his way back to 18th but came together with Craig Fitzpatrick going into the Complex on lap 17 putting an end to his race. Christian and the team leave Thruxton on a high about qualifying and race pace and now move to Oulton Park and a track Christian knows well, looking to continue the move forward.
Pat and East Coast Racing started well in their race moving to 16th on lap one and feeling strong. Unfortunately the same electrical gremlin that happened at Brands Hatch, reoccurred stopping Pat's race on lap three. Following the race the Pat and the team have found the source of the problem which was a faulty switch in the wiring loom. Now repaired, Pat and the team move to Oulton Park confident of race finishes and championship points.
