Dan frustrated by missed opportunities at Brands Hatch this weekend
05-04-2010
Dan and Rob Mac Racing had high expectations today following the fantastic front row qualifying result yesterday. Unfortunately the races did not go to plan.
In race one Dan did not get away as he wanted and moved from 4th to 8th by the first corner and was caught in a pack of riders. In this first race of the season it then took 5 to 7 laps for Dan to make himself some space and settle into a good rhythm by which time the leaders had pull a 15 to 20 second gap that Dan was not in a position to close on the short and busy Indy circuit. Dan finished 8th and gained 8 points. A solid start but not the result Dan wanted.
Dan's fastest lap time from race one moved him to 11th on the grid for race two. Dan got a better but not ideal start and moved back to 14th before quickly getting into a fast race pace and moving back through the field. Having caught Chris Walker who is very difficult to pass, Dan tried to pass a number of times including a final move at Graham Hill Bend when both riders came together and went off.
So 8 points from two races leaves Dan 11th in the Championship and with the option to drop his two poorest results after nine rounds. Dan moves to Thruxton planning to use what we learnt today to gain better results.
