Oulton park in the sunshine
10-04-2010
Great weather at Oulton Park on Friday for Dan and Christian testing with Rob Mac Racing and SMT. The event was an ACU licence holders track day but was still a little too busy for fast laps. Both riders however, were able to test.
Christian and SMT were looking to continue their development. The team are aiming for the Oulton Park round in 3 weeks, for Christian to be running at top ten pace. That is looking very likely after the 13th place finish at Brands Hatch and with the Thruxton event to use as development this coming weekend. At this test therefore Alec and Christian were able to tweak the setup for the Oulton Park round and Christian could get more time on the bike.
For Dan and Rob Mac Racing there were two main objectives. First was to get more practice starts in and second was to perfect the gearing and anti wheelie settings for the Oulton Park round. Dan was pleased that it was possible to address both points well.
In addition Rob Mac Racing was testing with Ian Lowrie and Rob's press release is:
Neil Hodgson and Dan Linfoot were joined for this one day test by Irishman Ian Lowry.
With Neil Hodgson aggravating an old injury in his crash at the first round of the British Championship held at Brands Hatch, Ian Lowry was invited to test his machine with a view to covering Neils position until his recovery is complete.
Ian an ex Virgin Mobile Cup race winner and top rookie in the 2009 Superbike Championship with Taz Suzuki completed 50 faultless laps on board the Hodgson Motorpoint Yamaha.
For Dan Linfoot today worked well after tough Brands Hatch, a chance to get back on his bike in the sunshine and try some new settings.
Neil Hodgson was on hand to help Ian settle into the bike, the Yamaha with the cross plane crank takes a bit of working out and Neil helped Ian with set up and track management.

A call out of the blue from Rob on Tuesday and here I am on the 2009 winning machine! The circumstances are not ideal with Neil taking a knock at Brands but I welcomed the opportunity to test the bike.
The test went well, the bike gives good confidence and Ill just wait and see how things pan out

We are still shell shocked from the weekend, we really had a great build up for the start of the season and Brands shattered our dreams! Neils injury is the worse news as it has knocked his entire winter recovery plan into touch and put him back to square one. All we can do is wait for news from specialists.
To be able to have someone like Ian to call on is great news for the team and our sponsors, all we can do is wait for news from Neils medics early next week.
Dan and Christian now move to Thruxton during the week in preparation for BSB round 2 this coming weekend.
