Back to Cartagena

It is 11am local time and we have decided to move back to Cartagena where the weather is better and we feel we can get further testing completed. Truck is packed and we are underway. We will set up this afternoon and will be on track Wed and Thurs. The event is being run by Art Motor and KRP together with others, are already testing there.

The Guadix snow settled!

I woke up this morning to the picture in the gallery here. The forecasted snow has settled. Certainly this will delay/cancel testing today. More updates later.

Arrived at Guadix

We arrived and set up at Guadix. Neither Dan or I have not been to the circuit before. It is narrow, short and twisty but the surface is good (except for a repair patch) as are the run off areas. The BSB record around here appears to be Leon Haslam in 2008 with 1m12.4s. The garage is set up and we are back at the local hotel. A shot from my hotel window in the gallery here, shows the current rather

Rob Mac Racing press release after the Cartagena stage of the test

The fourth and final day of testing at the Cartagena Circuit saw a good improvement in lap times and a very good feeling from both riders.

Although the wind had dropped and the temperature had risen the middle of the day brought with it some rain and a halt in testing, after the shower the track lost a little grip and effected the riders lap times.

Cartagena and Guadix Day 4

Our last day at Cartagena today and the weather has changed from cold and windy to less cold and not windy but with showers. We completed the first session but have missed the 2nd through rain. It looks OK currently for the 3rd and 4th sessions this afternoon starting at 3pm local time.

This morning Dan progressed to a 1m34.7s. It will be interesting to see if we can move further forward from there this afternoon.

We have just finished the one hour session this afternoon and Dan has taken another step forward with a time of 1m34.78s.

A good day. One more day tomorrow at Cartagena and then onto Guadix.

Cartagena and Guadix Day 3

Cool and blowy again today but dry and the circuit seems to still have good grip. As a result the times continue to fall. Dan and Rob Mac Racing decided to pass the first session and start with the second at 12.15 local time. Dan started on tyres from yesterday but then changed to new rubber mid session. With new tyres Dan then put in his fastest lap of the test so far of 1m35.0s just missing out on dipping into the 1m34's.

Hill, Kagayama and Ellison all made it into the 1m34s d

Cartagena and Guadix day 2

As outlined in Rob's press release, day 1 went as well as we could have hoped. Before the test we would have been pleased with 1m35s laps at the end of the Cartagena part of the test so to be circulating at this pace on day 1 was a good start.

Day 2 and the weather is not as hot leaving the track with less grip but it is dry despite the forecasts to the contrary. First session this morning was for photos and these will be on the website tomorrow. Session 2 and Dan picked up from where

Christian signs with SMT for British Superbike (FIM spec)

The news is being released today that SMT run by Robin Croft, and Christian have signed to run in British Superbikes for the 2010 season. The conversations have been developing for some time and they have now reached agreement. SMT will run Christian as a one Superbike rider team on a FIM spec machine developed from the bike that achieved pole with Karl Harris at Oulton Park last October. Christian and SMT have a strong relationship already from previous seasons and I think there is no doubt

To Cartagena and Guadix

Dan and I head off to Alicante today for the Rob Mac Racing tests at Cartagena (4th, 5th, 6th and 7th March) and then Guadix (8th, 9th and 10th March). Weather looks a little changeable for Cartagena but then improves for the second test. We will just take it day by day.

The majority of the leading BSB teams are at the tests and therefore it will be a good chance, particularly at Guadix, to gauge relative performance between the riders for the start of the season.

Dan's personalised Nitro Carbon helmets ready for 2010 season

Dan received his first two personalised Nitro Carbon helmets today ready for the 2010 season. Dan used a Nitro Carbon helmet at the team test at Almeria in December but two have now been sprayed by Bike Paints (www.bikepaints.co.uk) with Dan's design.

Dan Linfoot and James Westmoreland training before Cartagena test next week.

Dan and James continued their training today with mountain biking taking in Humber Bridge, Brough, Brantingham Forest and South Cave. In Dan's words just now:

"Just got back to James's house, a total of 30.08 miles off road in just under 4hours! A good day!"

Next week Dan and Rob Mac Racing, are taking part in the "Barry Symmons" organised, 4 day team test at Cartagena on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th March. Following Cartagena the team then continues to Guadix for a f

Martin Glossop progressing to 600cc racing for 2010.

I am pleased to help support Martin for his 2010 racing season progressing from his 125cc racing to 600cc either in Superstock 600 or Supersport. The decision on which class to race will be taken over the coming week and will be on this website, but either way it is a good opportunity for Martin to make that transition from 2-stroke to 4-stroke racing and to contiunue to develop his career.

I followed Martin during his season last year with KRP in the British 125cc Championship and hi

Pat McDougall in Portimao. Days 2 and 3

Pat and East Coast Racing have completed their three day test and are packed up ready to return to the UK tomorrow. As with day one, the last two days have been affected by damp track conditions in the morning together with cold track temperatures this afternoon. Despite this the three days have undoubtably been useful. Pat completed over 100 laps and although the track conditions did not provide an opportunity to go for lap times Pat has got dialled into the bike. The team also leaves Portim
